Bacteria - Home Economics

In cooking, we have been talking about bacteria and how we can stop it from growing. During this lesson, I had found out that I have been doing things wrong and I had learned more about how I can keep my food safe to eat.

What are the Bacteria?
  1. Tiny single-celled microorganism.
  2. Three main shapes: rod, spiral, and sphere.
  3. Some can move using a whip of a tail.
  4. No nucleus (control centre of the cell)

Are Bacteria dangerous?
  1. Not all are dangerous.
  2. Bad Bacteria are called pathogens.
  3. Some make you sick.
  4. Saminallia, Food poisoning, Tetanus, Pneumonia, Diarrhea, Typhoid. Etc
  5. Fight bacteria with antibiotics and antiseptics.

What are the Good Bacteria?
  1. They are found in some foods and soil.
  2. Foods - bacteria are in cheese, yogurt, pickles, soy sauce.
  3. In our body - help in break down of food. (Digestion)

What do bacteria need to survive?
  1. Warmth
  2. Moisture
  3. Oxygene
  4. Food
  5. Time
  6. Neutral PH

3 examples of how to avoid spreading bacteria?
  1. Clean hands
  2. Bandage over cuts
  3. Clean workspace.

What is cross-contamination? What effect does it have on you? How can we stop it?

  1. Cross-contamination is when you mix raw food together like raw meat and raw vegetables.
  2. Minor side effects include upset stomach, loss of appetite, headache, nausea, and diarrhea.
  3. Have a board for each raw food, bread, meat, cheese. etcImage result for what color chopping board does each food use

Silent Movie & Time - Drama

Today for drama we were talking about a silent movie. A silent movie is a movie that has everyone being silent and not talking. The silent movie can have many different Themes like fear, Happyness, Comedy, or even death. In my silent movie, we used cowboy hats, fake guns, fake flowers, and a few boxes as a bar stand for it was a scene about the wild west. I was a Sherif, Ella was the bartender, Damion was a drunk gold miner, Tamsyn was the piano lady and finally, Lucy was the outlaw. I think that we did pretty good. We did two rounds, one with running through perfectly and the other with someone shouting out freeze or stop controlling what we were doing.

This Is Me - Form time

During our form time, we have been learning about our country and what has been going on. We made it into a google drawing with color and tried to make it more interesting. Personally, I didn't think that this was helpful just a waste of time.

Singing In Theater - Drama

Today for drama I was reading Singing In Theater by Ruth Bjorklund. I learned that most people who go for the roles in plays go through dance classes, acting classes, and singing classes which is why they are the ones who are most likely to win the part. Nearly everyone begins his/her theater singing career in the chorus. When the show closes each night, before you completely collapse, you must accept your reward applause. The most important thing on stage is energy so if you don't have the energy you won't get that part you want to so it is best if you try with all you have got when you audition.

Investigating Light - Making Waves

In science today we were working on learning about light energy and how fast light travels. We had to learn about the differences between Transparent, Translucent, and Opaque. Here is my work.

  1. Window - Transparent
  2. Cloud - Translucent
  3. Can of coke - Opaque
  4. Mirror - Opaque
  5. A dog - Opaque
  6. A glass of milk - Opaque
  7. Frosted glass - Translucent
  8. A desk - Opaque

  1. Moon - No
  2. Sun - Yes
  3. Mirror ball - No
  4. Match - Yes
  5. Phone (cell) - Yes

What is the fastest way to travel through the universe?
A light.
What is the speed of light?
299 792 458 m
Define optical science?
Science and studies of lights.
What is fiber optics?
Thin pieces of glass/plastic that light pass through.
Name three instruments the help use see very small objects far away
1 - Telescope
2 - Microscope

3 - Binoculars
