In the wind and Through the sky, The birds came down to say goodbye

For the past few weeks, we have been working on the meanings of poems and the art of poetry. We started off by watching videos and trying to write down the feelings we feel when we watch it. Then we got shared a slideshow about poems. We had to choose what picture we wanted to write one about. I first chose to do one about a winter wonderland but that wasn't the end. After I did that one I created one about war and for the last one, I created it about a beautiful butterfly and a big, nasty, death-defying bug. In the end, I was proud of myself and very happy because I love doing poems. I love creating poems because you can express your feelings into a story that comes together to create a beautiful masterpiece.

Winter Wonderland -

Snow comes falling from the sky,
Sometimes I am wondering why,
The hurt,
The pain,
When they all come together,
It all seems the same,
It makes me wonder why we stay,
With this winter wonderland, nothing turns grey,
I hear it in the wind,
I see it in the sky,
In this winter wonderland, you would never leave behind.

In The War -

Through the thick clouds,
Is where you can see the sky,
But when you are in war,
It is hidden behind the crowds,
When you look around,
With the blood so red,
Their lives won’t be the same,
But with their love the had shead,
Their loves,
Their lives,
All for what,
Just to get home and see those beautiful doves.
The Beautiful Butterfly -
The day was bright,
It was a nice sunlight,
With the wind flowing through,
It had taken flight,
Down the paths,
Through the trees,
It landed not knowing what was in the breeze,
A huge bug jumped out of hiding,
The butterfly was at the edge and started flying,
The sky turned grey,
The trees stopped flowing,
By the time it had landed, it was already dying,
The sound of the cry,
The look of the blood,
It was over before it had begun.

Hurumanu - Charlesworth Reserve

Native trees - Birds           Image result for native new zealand trees

Next week for our Hurumanu we as a group decided to help out our community more and go to the Charlesworth Reserve Volunteer Day to plant more native trees. We can plant trees like Rimu, Kauri, Podocarpus Totara, and many more. We all thought this was a great idea to help attract more native birds to our beautiful city. The name Charlesworth came from a man called Captain William Charlesworth who was born in 1814 and died in 1875. Willam ended up being wounded in the foot by an ax. Succumbing to blood poisoning quickly. Willam Charlesworth was buried just five days later at the Woolston Cemetery. We are wanting to plant native trees to attract native birds because for some time they have been disappearing with our lack of respect to our city. Climate Change and pollution have been destroying our plant and wildlife with it. With our help, we can bring the native birds back to Christchurch and plant more trees. With our help, We can stop pollution. With our help, we can change Christchurch for the better of the Earth.

Beats And Beyond - Music

This week for Beats And Beyond we have been looking at different musicians in New Zealand. We had to choose one soloist and a band that has come from New Zealand. I chose to do Lorde as the soloist and Elemeno P as the band. After we found our information about them we had to create a D.L.O to share what we had learned.

Beats And Beyond

This week in our new Hurumanu we are doing music. I am very excited about this Hurumanu because I love making and listening to different music to find the type that catches my eye. We first had to find out what we already knew about music. When we were all talking out teachers Mrs. Hastie and Mr. Mitchell found out that we have a lot of knowledge about music anyway. We know many different types from rock and role to soft jazz, many instruments from a basic Guitar to a Pyrophone.
After that, we got into groups to share what we think music is. I think music is something that creates a rhythm or a beat that can be put together to create something that people enjoy to listen to. Today we learned what types of guitars there are and the different parts on them. Then we got out our books and did a title page which I thought was the most fun part so far. I drew a guitar and some music notes to represent someone making music.

The biggest thing I know about music is that anything can be music if you put it together and make a rhythm or beat that people enjoy listening to.

Revolution Tour

On Tuesday the 28th of May the Revolution Tour came to our school to help us learn about values and things about how bullying is bad. They also taught us how to stop bullying without making the situation worse. It was in the auditorium where we had the speakers and more room to fit all the of the students and some teachers.

When we first went into the auditorium we got greeted by Reggie with a high five and a few laughs. Even though I just walked in I had a feeling I would have a great time. When we went to go sit down there wasn't enough chair's for everyone to fit so some people had to sit on the floor. I somehow managed to get one of the last seats.

Then it all began with Reggie playing his saxophone into the microphone using it to play different songs. It was a very fun way to start the tour. After the saxophone, Reggie had some people that go to classes for dance to show us what they had learned and kept us hooked in the tour. Some people sang to the song and swayed to the rhythm. It was my favorite part.

Then we had a talk about bullying and how we could stop it. Reggie made it fun but we knew that what he was saying could help us in the future. Then we started to learn more about Reggie and some stuff about his life.

As fun as this experience was we all learned more about us and how we can help others. We got taught how we can stop bullying and help other people become better. In conclusion, I think we learn from this experience but we just have some fun while doing it.
