Science

Aim: To learn the names of 10 household chemicals and identify if they are a solid, liquid or a gas.


Definitions:

  1. Element; A single form of a chemical 
  2. Compound: A mixture made up of 2 or more elements
  3. Reaction: A process in which chemicals mix together to form a new substance.
  4. Mixture: When two or more elements are mixed together.

Equipment:

  1.  Lemon juice
  2.  Salt
  3.  Sugar
  4.  Vinegar
  5.  Lemonade bubbles
  6.  Onion gas
  7.  Baking soda
  8.  Milk
  9.  Cornflour
  10.  Banana
Steps:

1.  Search the internet for the name.
2.  Find the chemical name.
3.  Find an image.
4.  Find out what type of item it is. (liquid, solid or gas)

Repeat the steps for all the chemicals.

Task 1: Put the 10 chemicals in a chart with the titles - Name, Chemical ingredient(s), Image, Solid/Liquid/Gas.

CONCLUSION: ( WHAT DID YOU LEARN OR SEE)

The chemical name for salt is Sodium Chloride and salt is a type of solid food. The chemical name for lemon juice is citric acid while lemon juice is a type of liquid drink. Sugar has the chemical name sucrose while the food is a type of solid. Vinegar is a type of liquid while the chemical name for it is acetic acid. Lemonade Bubbles is a type of gas that is called carbon dioxide. The name for onion gas is Propanethiol S-oxide and the type of subsistence it is is a gas. The chemical food named Sodium hydrogen carbonate while we call it baking soda. Milk is a type of liquid, milk is also known as Aqueous.

    Nice job this is very well laid out and this gives me a lot of information and is very easy to read. Maybe you could make it more understandable to read for those who don't understand big words.
