Vegetarian Burgers - Home Economics

Yesterday in home economics we were making open steak burgers but because I can't eat some meats two others and I made some vegetarian burgers. Instead of having the steak, we had hashbrowns, which in my opinion is much better than any meat. We used the normal buns from the supermarket instead of the fancy once you would buy at the bakery. We were given a lot of choices to personalise our burgers not only in taste but with the appearance too. One of the choices was if we wanted to post our buns but I chose against it for I like the chewiness of the bun. My burger had lettuce on both the top and bottom bun so the wet ingredients don't make the buns soggy. I also had tomatoes, some onion, and of course, one hashbrown in the middle of it all.

INGREDIENTS -

Hashbrowns or steak
1 Tablespoon Oil - optional
Tomatoes - optional
An Onion- optional
1 Leaf of Lettuce - optional
Cheese - optional
Beetroot - optional
Sauce:
BBQ
Tomato
Mayonnaise
- optional

METHOD -

1. Collect your chosen ingredients.
2. Steak - Cut into thin strips and add into a pan with 1 tablespoon oil.
Hashbrown - Use directions on the box.
3. Prep your ingredients to put on your burger.
4. once your steak/hashbrown is done then start adding your ingredients onto the buns.
5. Enjoy your beautiful burgers!

HOW DID IT TASTE?

The chewiness of the buns contrasted with the crunchiness of the lettuce, onion, and the hashbrown giving it more texture. The tomato had this sweet but sour taste contrasting with everything else. I added the mayonnaise and barbeque sauce and I think I made the right choice. The barbeque gave the burger a smokey type of flavour whereas the mayonnaise had this rich and sweet flavour profile. Though there were a lot of contrasting flavours I thought that they all brought the burger together giving it an amazing and unique flavour.

Masks - Drama

Commedia Dell-Arte Masks - Commedia dell'arte masks are one of the most important parts of each character. Each mask design is paired with a specific character based on appearance and tradition. Commedia masks make a statement to the audience from the moment they are seen on stage.

Greek Masks - They are the Comedy and Tragedy masks that were worn in ancient Greece in the golden age, around 500 – 300 BC. They are paired together to show the two extremes of the human psyche. All of the actors were male, and they all played multiple roles, so a mask was used to show the change in character or mood.

Masquerade Masks - masquerade ball is an event in which many people come in costume wearing a mask. Less formal "costume parties" may be a descendant of this tradition. A masquerade ball usually encompasses music and dancing.

Mask Performance -

I think that the performance was great. I liked the way all of the masks turned out but I think that next performance I could do better acting for I don't think that I was at my best. One thing I need to remember for next time is to probably not leap as far as I can of the stage for I could tumble over.

9/11 - Timeline

Today in chemicals and chaos we all had gotten to do some individual work and choose which assignment we wanted to do. I chose to work on 9/11 because, to be honest, I have never heard of it. I did a lot of research about it and learned a lot about some countries. My task was to make a timeline following the events that lead up to the crash of flight 11 and flight 175. Here is my timeline.

6:00am - Polling station opens
7:59am - Flight boards 11 crew members, 76 passengers, 5 highjackers
8:15am - The flight takes off from Boston to Los Angeles
8:19am - Flight crew informs ground personal about highjackers.
8:46am - Flight 11 crashes into floors 93-99 of the north tower
9:00am - Flight attendant aboard flight 175 alerts air traffic control that a highjacking is underway
9:03am - FLight 175 crashes into floors 77-85 of the south tower.

Reflection - 2 Week Holiday!

Because it was the end of the term we got to have a 2 week holiday. Mine started off with a trip up to Kaikoura to see my grandad and his wife. We also had made a stop to see my Great, Great aunty Barbra and Grea, Great uncle Bill. During the car ride there we made a few stops to different cafes to get drinks, food, and to make some bathroom stops. We had some car karaoke and we were more on the side of screaming the lyrics rather than singing them. When we reached the house we all caught up for we didn't have much time on the car ride.

The next day I decided to make them chocolate chip waffles with bacon and fruits. Once we were all finished eating we went out to the town and went shopping for new things. I brought a necklace for $10 and totally worth it. I haven't taken it off since. After that, we went to see Barbra and Bill because they are getting very old and may not be there next time we visit.

At the end of the night, we went to that bar/restaurant lobster and ordered our food. It took 2 hours for my family to get their food. and 3 for mine to arrive. Mine was the first ordered and all I had was fish and chips while everyone else had ribs and steak. The plus side of it was they gave me a free coke so it was fine in the end.

On the last day, we said our goodbyes and left for our trip back home after dropping off my aunty at the airport. Best, Trip Ever.
