Reflection - Term 2

Pride Month - 14/06/2021

What is Pride Month?
Pride month celebrates the equality, dignity, and increased visibility of LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, transgender, Queer+)  people as a social group. In the past, people shamed others for liking the same gender or wanting to change who they are because they all thought that a girl goes with a boy and that is how it should be. We still do this but most people have started to accept that people can love, be, or not be whoever they want. Pride month isn't just about celebrating who we love but also giving courage to the people who aren't brave enough to stand up for who they are and what they like to do. Personally, I think we have choices on who we are and what we do. People should stand up with pride to celebrate their sexuality and gender. That is the reason why it is called pride month so don't stand there and judge those who are proud o be who they are.

Topic: Pink Shirt Day

What is the point of Pink Shirt Day?
Pink Shirt Day is an antibullying campaign that celebrates others' differences and it creates a safe environment that makes people feel valued, respected, and it gives those who are being bullied support. Every year schools, workplaces, organizations, and individuals come together and join the movement against bullying. Pink Shirt Day started in Canida in, 2007 when 2 students stood up against a homophobic bully who was taunting a new Yr 10 student for wearing a pink shirt. We have been wearing pink shirts during this day since 2009 when people started to join from all around New Zealand. Pink Shirt Day is important, not only because it shows support but because it shows bravery and respect.

Reflection - 2 Week Holiday!

Because it was the end of the term we got to have a 2 week holiday. Mine started off with a trip up to Kaikoura to see my grandad and his wife. We also had made a stop to see my Great, Great aunty Barbra and Grea, Great uncle Bill. During the car ride there we made a few stops to different cafes to get drinks, food, and to make some bathroom stops. We had some car karaoke and we were more on the side of screaming the lyrics rather than singing them. When we reached the house we all caught up for we didn't have much time on the car ride.

The next day I decided to make them chocolate chip waffles with bacon and fruits. Once we were all finished eating we went out to the town and went shopping for new things. I brought a necklace for $10 and totally worth it. I haven't taken it off since. After that, we went to see Barbra and Bill because they are getting very old and may not be there next time we visit.

At the end of the night, we went to that bar/restaurant lobster and ordered our food. It took 2 hours for my family to get their food. and 3 for mine to arrive. Mine was the first ordered and all I had was fish and chips while everyone else had ribs and steak. The plus side of it was they gave me a free coke so it was fine in the end.

On the last day, we said our goodbyes and left for our trip back home after dropping off my aunty at the airport. Best, Trip Ever.

P.E - Reflection

Fitness - During lock-down I was pretty lazy but I still managed to do some fitness. I went on 20-minute walks (to the dairy) and sometimes to the park so I could get outside of my stuffy room. Aside from walking I also worked on my muscle strength with cleaning. You will be surprised how much stuff you would have to move or how hard you have to scrub. Sometimes I would take my dog out for walks but not too often for she isn't trained properly and isn't the best when you're taking her for a walk.

Positives - While my mother and I were in quarantine we ate a lot of healthy food and not a lot of meat because my sister is the one who likes to eat it. My mother and I love to eat vegetables so it wasn't that difficult to make dinners and lunch for us. We still had food like chips and chocolate but we worked on moderation.

Negatives - At the end of the quarantine we started to run out of fresh food and didn't buy more so we ate a lot of unhealthy and fatty foods. I also went on fewer walks for we didn't need anything from the dairy or need to walk the dog.
