Music Reflection

What did you enjoy last term in Music?
I liked being able to learn to play the piano at my own speed. It s easy to understand and I could ask for help when I needed it.

What skills did you learn?
I learned how to play a couple of parts of songs on the piano. I found out how to somewhat read the music note for the piano.

Did you Perform?
Yes, I performed a mix of One Kiss, No Tears Left To Cry, and Perfect. I was reading them and noticed that when one of the songs ended it landed on the same note that the next song started on.

Are you taking music next year? If so what instrument do you wish to focus on?
Yes, I signed up for music next year and if I am to get in I will be working on playing the drums. I do lessons and wish to continue working on them during class next year.

Keyboard Reflection! - Music

During the last few lessons of music, we had been learning how to play songs on the piano. I haven't played piano before so this was a new and different experience than what I was used to. The biggest thing I learned during this time was how to use all of your fingers while playing. It was much more difficult using both hands during the song cause I couldn't really focus on what I was doing. I liked the challenge.

What does Music Mean to Me - Music

What does music mean to me?
Music is something that has been helping me throughout my entire life. I listen to music while I am reading or maybe when I am not feeling the best. No matter what, music has always been there for me to listen to when I felt like I need a pick-me-up or maybe just when I was bored and want something to listen to. In the end, music is my safe place.

Have you studied music before?
When I was around 6 or 7 my father wanted to teach me how to play the guitar. After about 1-2 months of trying to learn, my father kind of gave up trying to teach me.

What type of music do you enjoy and why?
I like more upbeat pop songs but I don't really have a favorite genre. When I listen to upbeat songs my mood kind of moves along with the song which can be helpful when trying to find the feel for a song.

Name 3 bands/singers you like and why?
Ramz, Aurora, Why Don't we. I like these people even though they have a different type of feel because they all have good song beats. Another thing I like from these artists is their lyrics to most of their songs science some of them are quite relatable.

What would you like to learn in music?
I would like to learn how to play the drums but mostly would like to learn how to read the music notes.

How Does Music Enhance The Story

Music -

Diegetic Sound - Sounds added to a scene. eg music.

Non-Diegetic Sound - Sounds that don't need to be added for they happen in nature. eg footsteps, wind blowing, leaves.

Chords:

Major - written in a major key, has a happy and uplifting tone.
Minor - Written in a minor key, has a sad and gloomy tone.

Tempo/speed:

fast - It is something you would walk fast or run to. Makes you feel energized and gives it a movement.
Moderate - Somewhere in between the two.
slow - You would be drawing your feet if you were walking along to the music. It makes you lethargic.

Dynamics/Volume:

Farte/Loud - Gets the viewer's attention. It gives the music more emotion.
Piano/Quiet - Either background music or used to make the viewer focus.
Changing - Quiet to loud builds intensity. Loud to quiet pulls us into focus.

Song 1 -

Happy, Uplifting, Catchy, Major, energetic, live, upbeat, Fast. Mostly Major tones.

Song 2 -

Sad, tired, background music, low, lethargic, slow, sobber. Lots of minor tones.

Coraline Song 1 -

Cordes - Minor, Changing tempo.

Moderate - feel on edge, walking pace gives energy.

Minor, Tired, upset, Sad, Confused, creepy.

Changing speed - Starts quiet and goes louder. Grabs our attention, builds emotion, and intensity.

Mouse circus -

Chords - minor, In the background, there is a lot of minor tones that make us feel like there is something not quite right in the scene/music.

Tempo - Fast, I feel like I have to start marching place with the tempo of the music.

Dynamics - Loud, It makes us feel like joining in and intrigued kind of like taking your focus.

Adele - Beats And Beyond

Today I have been working on my Adele slideshow of facts about her. We got told to find out the full name, date of birth, how she started, and how she is now. I found out more about music while searching for her top song and found out that the song 'Hello' was the favorite of the group of songs she has created.

Green Eyed Girl

For music, we have been working on writing our own song. At first, I was freaking out cause I didn't know what to write about but then I remembered I had always wanted to write a song about a green-eyed girl. I was first wondering how I should start when I thought of writing a rap instead because it would be easier. I found out that it was not the hard way. I had always wondered how singers write there song and how long it took. It isn't easy writing a song so when you hear music don't take it for granted.

Beats And Beyond Music Revolution

For the past 2 weeks of music, My friend Belle and I have been working on a slideshow presentation to show the revolution of music. We started with finding out what music was like at different times of music. Then found out who were the most popular musicians in that area of time. After that, we did some research on the most popular songs for the different timelines. With all of this done we put some links, videos, and photos to make it more interesting. I also put one song that I love from this point in time

Beats And Beyond - Music

This week for Beats And Beyond we have been looking at different musicians in New Zealand. We had to choose one soloist and a band that has come from New Zealand. I chose to do Lorde as the soloist and Elemeno P as the band. After we found our information about them we had to create a D.L.O to share what we had learned.

Beats And Beyond

This week in our new Hurumanu we are doing music. I am very excited about this Hurumanu because I love making and listening to different music to find the type that catches my eye. We first had to find out what we already knew about music. When we were all talking out teachers Mrs. Hastie and Mr. Mitchell found out that we have a lot of knowledge about music anyway. We know many different types from rock and role to soft jazz, many instruments from a basic Guitar to a Pyrophone.
After that, we got into groups to share what we think music is. I think music is something that creates a rhythm or a beat that can be put together to create something that people enjoy to listen to. Today we learned what types of guitars there are and the different parts on them. Then we got out our books and did a title page which I thought was the most fun part so far. I drew a guitar and some music notes to represent someone making music.

The biggest thing I know about music is that anything can be music if you put it together and make a rhythm or beat that people enjoy listening to.
