C.I.P - What We Are Doing

Every Wednesday for the past 3 terms we have been doing C.I.P which stands for Community Impact Projects. In cool to be kind we go around and help others, talk to the elderly, and share our thoughts and ideas on our blogs. We want to make an impact on our community and make Hornby a better place to live. In our other C.I.P group, Tane Mahuta. We go and plant more native trees to keep nature in the world and we talk about what we are doing to destroy this plant. We want the native birds to come back to New Zealand by starting to plant those trees that the birds most likely go to. Making our home a better place to be without all the gases and oils leaking into our atmosphere. Help us make our world a better place to be by recycling, re-planting, and reducing the need for destroying our home.

Tane Mahuta - Cleaning The Compost

Today for our Community Impact Project we decided to clean up the compost area because we are gonna try to clean it up and make it a better place for the environment. We started off by picking up rubbish from around the area. It took a long time to get at least 2/3s of the rubbish in the bag but we decided to finish there. After that, we picked up the leaves, branches and cabbage leaves that we could find and put them in the compost/beside the compost. after that, we had already made it look way better than when we walked in. I think we just made Mother Nature happy again.

Tane Mahuta - Rubbish Collecting

Today for Tane Mahuta we went outside to the field and Started to collect rubbish from the field. We all split up into different groups to cover more ground. In my group, we had Mackenzie C, Kaedun, and a few others. Kaedun found a phone by the posts while the rest of us found trash, trash, and more trash. Then we all met up at the end of the field and walked into the bushes. my friend found a 5 dollar note and we all freaked out. We think that we helped the environment a little more now.

Tane Mahuta

I am proud to say that I am part of the Tane Mahuta group. Our job is to help the environment by planting more trees and flowers not only to make the world look better but to help the environment grow bigger and bigger. Today we walked around the outside part of the school to find some places that we could help plant trees and fix up the soil to take the rubbish out. My favorite part of the walk was the community garden that was hidden inside the bushes of the school. My best idea to improve the school is to plant some nice trees/plants to help mother nature become great again.
