Serial Dilution - Chemistry

AIM:

The aim of this experiments is to create a serial dilution.

HYPOTHESIS:

It will become less consentrated as it goes down the line..

Method:

Start of by collecting 6 test tubes. In the first test-tube, put 10mls of water. With the other 5 test tubes, fill them all up with 5ml of water. After that, start by adding in a piece of potassium permanganate into test tube 1 with the 10mls. Move 5mls of solution 1 into test tube 2 and 2 into 3 until it has ended up with 5 going into 6. By that time you should notice the different shades as the potassium permanganate starts diluting and becomes overcome with the water there for making it a lighter and less concentrated solution as it goes down the line.

Conclusion: The start tube was the most concentrated because it had less water causing it to have more of the potassium permanganate particals. as you went down the line the potassium permanganate started becoming more diluted as the water makes itself more present.
