Photography - Tiny Soldiers

What do you see in the photograph?

A soft focus on the bark and the main part is the soldier.

Is your photograph in black and white or color?

Colour.

How have you used focal points and leading lines?

Nope.

What was your initial reaction to the photograph?

It looked bad.

Does the photograph include subject matter you don’t want?

The fence.

Do your figures stand-out from their surroundings or are they hidden?

Stand out.

Do you use symmetry or asymmetry? Have you used the Rule of Thirds?

None.

Does your photography appear to be a real scene?

Because of the fact that the camera is level with the soldier, it makes it seem like a P.O.V of someone with or against them.

What were your i-pad camera settings?

Normal.

If you do have an unwanted subject matter, how would you change the next reshoot?

Blur out the background to make it focus more on the soldier.

What is the direction of the light? Is the light strong or soft? Do you have cast shadows?

The light is coming from the back and making the soldier glow.

Is there a shallow or deep space represented? s your camera angle low or high?

It is eye level with the soldier.

Does the photograph express an idea? Explain

Nope.

Do you use close-ups or distant views?

It is kind of mid-range.

  2. Kia ora Emily, Yes, the foreground bark does have a soft focus and it works well as dark space in which to hide. There is a very strong contrast between light and dark. I like how the soldiers are hidden in the shadows. Could you set up the photo again and eliminate the fence and parts you do not want and shift the composition by using the rule of thirds?
